New rear pads and sensor BUT...
Just changed my rear pads and sensor.
Got the akebono Euro and oem sensor. Install went well expect when I reset my brake on my dash it shows 6000km left... Does the car need more driving time to figure out its new pads and sensor? |

The new sensors aren't as sophisticated as you think. They just let you know when the pad needs replacing after you have worn through enough of the sensor to break the circuit. It has no idea what the actual life of brakes by sensing the thickness of the pads. I don't know why it would say only 6k of life remaining after the reset.

My rear sensors were untouched when I changed my pads (pad thickness was more than enough so warning did not come on). I reused it when I installed pads but the sensor said brake pad needed replacement. Ended up getting a new sensor and the error magically went away.

It's just weird cause it shouldn't say 6000km left since they are new pads and a new oem sensor. I've been driving for a week and it hasn't changed. Wondering if anyone else encountered this situation?
