US Spec E91 335i + 6MT worth?

Hello all,

If you read the title, you're probably wondering wth am I talking about. The US never got the E91 335i. Well... I changed that and had my shop swap in a N54 engine and put in a manual transmission also. Donor car was a 2010 Msport E90 335i with 64k miles.

What do you guys think this is worth?

PS* This is not the car in my signature. That is a completely different car than the one described above.

As a rule modded cars aren't worth the money you put into them. That said, who knows?

Priceless! Are you looking to sell it?

Need more details to come up with an accurate estimate. Depends on year/mileage/condition of the original E91 as well as the donor 335. Rough guess I'd say anywhere between $15-25k.

I'm thinking 20k. Need a lot more details on the build quality. Has to be the right buyer tho. A non enthusiast would likely be put off by it, but the rest of us are all hot and bothered.

Poster above was right on. Given what we know it's a wide range!

Agreed and I think most cars would fall under this category. Of course there are exceptions. I sold my first E91 M3 body conversion for close to used M3 prices back in 2014.

I think anyone who's actually looking at an E91 would already be a special buyer. If anything, someone who found an M sport N52 E91 in the 15k-25k range would already be lucky. Since I've already had an N52 E91, I can say they're fun and well balanced cars, but not that fast.

haha sorry for getting you guys all hot and bothered. I'm pretty eager to get the car back. I'm just on the fence on keeping the car since my work situation has changed and I may need a bigger car to drive clients in and the wagon may not work as well. Agreed that only an enthusiast would appreciate the car, and that's pretty much who I would target, someone like myself who has a particular taste and wants something unique that no one else has.

I'm 6 foot and 250 pounds, I've ridden in the back of my boss's E90 M3 plenty of times. I had more than enough room. I would not want to be back there for more than an hour or two, but around town it was no problem. I'm guessing that a wagon would have a similar amount of room. How long will a client be in the back of your car? And do you expect them to be tall?

But if you want me to venture a guess, I would say that you will get a small premium over a similar e90 335i. If you wait for a special buyer, maybe $5,000.

People are hilarious. You won't get the money you want for it unless you are willing to find the right buyer. There will be plenty of real enthusiasts interested. It all depends on how full the conversion is as you already know. If you are looking to cut your losses just stop adding stuff or revert everything but the mechanical back to OEM.

It's going to be rare for sure. I have no doubt it will sell. However, mods don't have same value on market unfortunately, so eventually it's a waste of money. Look at some of sale threads here on forum, people trying to sell very tastefully modded cars and most of them ending up parting all mods, since they can't get anywhere close to what they were hoping for. People don't buy modded cars as well as OEM stock.

So as some posters said - best thing for you is to wait until a E91 enthusiast buyer shows up who can appreciate your unique car - if you want to get anything more than usual same age 335 goes for nowadays (I saw a e92 2010 335i 6MT with 89k miles, lots of good mods for $16k and no one showed any interest at that price)

P.S. as for me I would be highly suspicious about that kind of swap, when I don't know history of accidents with chassis or motor donor car and I'm not sure in swap quality done by the shop, I simply can't trust such swap, I would rather pick OEM 335 than a Frankenstein swapped in local indy shop constructor from 2 parted cars, but then again if I wanted E91 with more power I would have looked at it definitely

It depends on the situation. A client could be in my car for 20 minutes for 4 hours.

haha yup. Honestly it was just kind of fun to hear the responses since I've already received a few inquiries about purchasing the car within the price range of used E9x M3's. It wasn't too hard to sell my previous E91 that was modded so finding the right buyer for the right price isn't too hard.

It's also interesting how the comparison of a different model would be useful since that wouldn't be an ideal way to get comps. I have no doubt your E91 will end up one of the most nicest wagons out there - simply by judging your enthusiasms and commitment. I was just simply stating my opinion and I think opinion of majority or average Joe that will think like that (even if they are wrong). It's just human nature to stay away from any swaps and such. I only mentioned mods, because to me anything changed from sock is a mod: swapping seats, doing alcantara lining to interior, swapping 6MT and engine and so on - if these aren't mods then I don't know what mods are lol
That being said, don't mind me, I'm sure there are always folks who are after such rare car, so I'm sure you'll sell it

Yea you are right though, anything not OEM is modded. Would it count still if I only used OEM parts haha. But I apologize if I came off strong all your statements are quite true.

I certainly believe you have some offers already, and that's great, but unlike the last car that was sold off to never-never land never to be seen or heard of again I'd love to hear and see some actual details on this car.

Kind of a shame if we don't because we're all here to build knowledge and enjoy these really cool builds. Anyway, just my thoughts.

Actually, my last wagon was featured on the front page of this forum, on Speedhunters, made it's rounds in a bunch of shows and also won a few awards last year if I remember correctly. The owner is also a fellow forum member so the car is not in hiding, you just have to know where to look.

I agree with your comments though, the purpose of this forum is to share knowledge and most importantly, photos! I just don't have any at the moment..
