Pull the spark plugs and look at them. That will give you a baseline to determine if you are burning it or if something else is the issue.

I tend to consume about a quarter on the oil bar at the same mileage as you,my engine has always consumed this amount for the last 100 000km without any noticeable deviation. |

PCV? What's the mileage on your N52?
I know that the older M54 motors used 2 piece oil control rings to reduce internal friction (so that the engines are more efficient), and they tended to wear out prematurely compared to the more traditional 3 piece oil control rings used on the then older M52 motors. So then, what do the N52 motors use for the oil control rings? Mine still has fairly low mileage for its age, and since I don't do high or even moderate annual mileage, it's hard to say what my oil consumption is - it hasn't drop between services for the last couple of years, but years ago it seemed to be improving as time went on. I think it was something like a litre after doing 10k km or so - previous time it was a litre after doing just over 8k km. Using a thicker oil isn't really solving the problem, so I would try and verify that there are no obvious and dramatic oil leaks. Then try and determine as suggested above whether it is burning oil by removing and inspecting the spark plugs. |

Is there black residue all over the exhaust tail pipe? If so, you are burning oil.
If not, you have a leak. You said you just did the OFHG? Have you checked your coolant for foam? It is very easy to over tighten the bolts on the OFH and cause a ripple in the gasket and cause a leak one way or the other from oil to coolant. |

You have a N52 motor?
Both the coolant and oil flow through the Oil Filter Housing. The seal prevents one from mixing with the other and/or leaking to the outside. But, if not installed properly, you can cause a ripple in the gasket that will allow oil and/or coolant to start mixing. If you open/unscrew the coolant lid and find a oily foam substance, then you have the two mixing at some point. |

N52 Oil Consumption
If your n52 is burning alot of oil, I agree with the comments above to check the plugs. You should have one that is carboned up worse than the others. My car was DRINKING oil at about 1L/300kms but still had good compression... so I tried everything to fix it (seafoam cylinders, oil stop stuff etc) but nothing worked. You have two choices, fix it or sell it. I eventually ended up rebuilding the engine, I made DIY videos on this on my channel if you're interested.
