Broken battery terminal
Hi,
Yesterday, I had to change the battery in my E92 335D and accidently broke off the connector that fits into the side of the positive red plastic connector. Once the battery was installed, after turning on the ignition and firing her up, I had the restraint and airbag warning lights come on!!! After searching on the web, I think this is a safety link to the battery so if the airbag goes off, a charge goes off by the battery so a spark doesn't ignite and cause a car fire. Is this correct? Is this cable sold separately as I can get the male part of the connector out of the red terminal block? Or can I bypass this link altogether? Any comments appreciated. Thanks in advance. Gordon |

If it due to the BST (battery safety terminal) blowing then yes this will bring up an error of airbag. Best to check with a computer to see what error codes it pops out.
With regard to the cable yes it is available seperate including a new bst. Should be in the region of around £90-100 from dealers. Would not recommend but you can also disconnect the connector to the bst and override with a resistor. Will have details of what ohm resistor is required but will need to fish it out. hope that helps |
