Typically you should be working on the valves with the piston at TDC right? In that case, you couldnt fill the cylinder to hydrolock level unless you actually filled the combustion chamber all the way up and filled a bit extra into the head and didnt get it vacuumed out before moving to the next valve. If you did that you should notice that it took a whole lot more solvent to treat those 2 valves than the others you did, and that bubbles were coming back out of the combustion chamber while fluid slowly leaked down.

i don't have know the exact amount but, i suspect a cap full of any fluid would cause a significant issue if it was remaining at first starts.

We are not talking ifs. You said a little solvent wouldn't hurt anything. I disagree.

you are correct. The issue is, suggesting a little solvent isn't going to hurt anything. It's hard to see or know 100% the passenger side ports are completely dry. Depending on the camera used, it can be difficult to see that valve or what's around it and there is a chance someone could inadvertently rotate the engine allowing solvent into the cylinder.

Similar to walnut shells... they shouldn't ever enter the chamber, but it happens and people find them in their oil filter.

You don't need to fill a cylinder to hydrolock it. A small amount of fluid will stop it from rotating.

I'm pretty sure I didn't mention anything about a cap full of solvent left over in each cylinder. If you're leaving cap fulls of anything in a cylinder, you're doing something very very wrong.

A little solvent to me would be some residue left over from a cleaning, that's it.. Stop with your assumptions.

You should probably reread this thread from the beginning.

What's there to re-read? OP said his mechanic was going to do a solvent based CBU cleaning, that's about it. You're worried about hydrolocking the engine if there's a drop of liquid leftover, we get it.
