Suspension Dropped On One Side

The Suspension on the 335 has Dropped On One Side

The car has been running perfectly, "ITS ON COILOVERS" I recently completed a 1500 mile round trip over to Germany and back.

Driving to a BMW meet yesterday I got there NO Issues, on my way back home, "and" this just suddenly happened. The rear driver side tyre started rubbing against the wheel arch, it got worse when doing a left turn and disappeared when going straight. at first I thought I had a puncture but that was ruled out.

I got home, removed the wheel to have a proper look, but could not see any thing, the spring was fine, no movement from the hub area, so, I am not sure where to look now, possibly top mount failed or a bush or lower arm fail

"O" and its dropped about 6/8mm on that rear end so what ever it is it's causing the wheel to move out when cornering etc

Any pointers would be appreciated.

That's not good Steve.

I'd say check the top mount for starters as it might be that it's failed and hence punched through.

Otherwise can only be spring or bushes maybe but that would cause movement in the hub etc.

Steve did you fit e93 specific coil overs?
If not it could be due to all the extra weight of your convertible, approx 560lbs heavier than 335i coupe

Hi Chappers,,,,,

We had a look 2 nights ago, raised the car on a lift and had a good look at every thing but nothing was loos or moving, it is going in to my friend's garage on Tuesday and I have asked them to remove the rear suspension, replace the top mount and bump stop and reinstall every thing and then readjust the height again so that both sides are the same, just cant see or understand why it has dropped,,,,

As for the gear box remap, that proved a worth while upgrade over in Germany, I found that the gear change were instant, quicker and a lot quieter, I had also fitted the AFE air box so the car performed very well.
