Unsure what to go for as with that budget there is a wide market.
Also depends on whether you are fussed about brand etc as above the Mondeo would be a good cheap to run/maintain option.

One other thing is that do you really want something for 25k when with the mileage you are doing you will take a massive hit on the value? So maybe go for a cheaper daily runner?

All the newer stuff whether petrol or diesel are way more economical then previous models.

Oh and if the worry is the diesel charges that may be coming then I would stick to petrol and go with something that really fits the speeds and mileage you do. Let's be honest doing that mileage (and with the amount of general traffic on the roads/cameras etc etc) I wouldn't be too fused about the size or power of the engine as you need something that is basically economical and easy/cheap to maintain.
What u say makes sense, maybe I should just grit and bear the 330d??

Anyways guys apparently my local dealership have an end of quarter sale apparently

They are offering 12% off a new car with 2.9% APR, the guy said he would come back with some numbers on a 335d, I said I'd want a deal with a high future value keeping monthly and deposit as low as possible, let us see what he comes back with? Is that really a good deal u guys reckon?

Cheers all for ur suggestions

Lol neither am I but my quest for a inexpensive estate car has had me looking at all sorts of cars & you can get an almost new mondeo for under 20k with delivery miles.

All the Lexus hybrids are pretty much the same power train, with the exception of the GS/RX450H.

My wife has had a IS300H for the last few years, real world economy is touch better than her old 2.2 diesel Civic. But much much more refined, throttle lag is noticeable though but only if you trash it down a B road, for city driving it's very good.

I'd just say think long and hard and make sure you check the different finance costs for the different options available.

Doing that sort of mileage I most definitely think you need to get into something you don't mind driving and sitting in for that length of time. So the autobox and some creature comforts would be high on my list. Yes engine and power delivery would be important but it has to really outway the costs involved and if you can justify it.
I don't know if I would want to get into a 4 year PCP on a diesel if there is the possibility of the 25 cities tax malarkey. That would really have a massive impact.

A hybrid is maybe the best option so you have petrol power train with the electric economy kicking in for the city driving bit.

If you can see yourself for the foreseeable future living with the 330d then personally keep with for a while longer until more comes out about the diesel tax and assume there will be less cost and devaluation on the current car while you decide?

Not sure which model it was but it was one of the bigger saloon cars with fancy bumpers etc. I expected to shoot past it like most cars I over take but he put his foot down before me and it took longer than I thought it would to catch him.
