I bought these cables and connectors

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BMW-CCC-t.../311585717331?
apart from the cables the usb connector is oem bmw.

for emulator I bought this
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271677886...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

A another user said that his had no problems with this one so I decided to take the punt
Thanks for the input mate I'll have more of a think about which ones to get.

I might just try the cables you linked then if they no good I'll buy all genuine
The cables should arrive next week, so I'll let you know if they work etc.

Why Use the emulator guys, this was my very first error when getting my updates done. the issue with most Emulators, they only emu the year they come with.

My advice is just get the hardware, and use the many site that offer cheap maps and codes,

I use BMWNAVIPRO

i get the code for 10 and the map for 15, so nice and cheap

I think the emulator is for activation navi, voice and video, not for map updates

The emulators are used to activate Nav and other functions. All used CIC units are vin locked, to the original car they came in from factory. So in order for functions such as Nav voice to work. The vins have to match, hence why an emulator is used.
