This was just a straight head unit swap, I've no aftermarket amp installed and don't think the Professional Radio has an external amplifier as standard?

Very nice, so your steering wheel controls all work fine?
You say Pre-LCI non-iDrive, why wouldnt this also work for LCI non-idrive systems? If you already have the BMW Blue Tooth telephone control and voice control can you still use it?

The same can be done on an lci. Find a headunit with Bluetooth and you don't need the factory Bluetooth.

Base system, with upgraded under-seat subwoofers (Gladen HG-201)
I just said Pre-LCI simply because my car is Pre-LCI I would think that it would be the same for an LCI, although you should double check that. All my Bluetooth functionality is through the Kenwood now. Strangely, the only button that doesn't work on my steering wheel is the call answer button. This is likely down to the harness adapter, but as the Kenwood has MASSIVE on-screen buttons when the phone rings, it hasn't bothered me.

I might try source Kenwood's adapter instead of the Connects2 and see if it makes a difference. It has not been a big deal so far, though.
