Torque Setting Required

Does anyone know what torque setting is required for the bolts that secure the driver's side engine mount bracket to the engine block. From new these bolts are aluminium alloy but the replacement bolts are NH 8.8 steel. The Bentley Service Manual doesn't cover the engine mounts or bracket.

The markings will either be be NI (Galvanic nickel) or NIH (Chemical nickel).

If the bolts are M12 8.8 it will be 82Nm

The bolts are all carbon steel, it's the coating that will give it the appearance of 'aluminum'. The torque needed is dependent on the coating which determines the force required to overcome the thread friction.

The Bentley Manual provides a torque table for fasteners so you can refer to that unless otherwise stated.

Wrong

The torque spec is 66Nm

You might strip the Aluminium block if you torqued it to 82Nm

I dont know why people even use 3rd party service manual books when the official documents are so easy to get

Thanks Vince. The last thing I want now is to strip a thread in the block.

Correct. If only an ASA is used.
The OP stated the fasteners are NH 8.8
