Poor xenons?

Anyone else find their Xenon lights really poor? My car is now 8 years old and I can't help but think the quality of my lights has degraded so much. Is this even possible?

Halogens would give better light than my xenons do right now. Could they be knackered? I don't really know how the technology works and whether they degrade over time or not

I'm the opposite. Not long the proud owner on a ten year old E92. Xenon's are excellent.

Looks like I have a problem then. Driving down the lanes is real tricky without full beams.

i had a brand new 330d for 4 months earlier this year which had LED adaptive lights which were absolutely awesome. Don't expect mine to be as good but they're so much worse.

Need new bulbs? After 8 years they definitely wont be bright as new. Also check the headlight level. Mine were too low. Headlight could be faded also.. polished mine last summer

When I had an E92 back in 2007. I had to adjust the lights as they are set too low from the factory.

If agree with this, id eBay some bulbs. It was pot luck with I got a pair of Phillips xenons for £20. Theyre really nice and bright and really easy to install. They can be replaced just by removing the cover built into the arch liner.

I think its easier on the E90 than the e92 to replace the bulbs. E92 requires the arch liner to be removed as far as I'm aware.

Anyway, I've ordered some Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs. Reviews online say they're better than originals with a similar colour temperature.

Will post my findings once they're fitted, hopefully tomorrow

Great stuff, I think that will sort your issue personally. I had to remove the arch linen last night to replace my angel eyes as it was one of a couple of things required to pass my MOT haha, in all fairness despite there being quite a few bolts only 8 of them or so held the arch liner in place. It should only take 5 minutes or so once the wheels off

So i had the bulbs changed today. Weather held me back a bit but the difference is amazing, I can now see in the dark!!

I think I need to adjust the beam height a tiny bit and once thats done, they'll be fantastic

Driver side Xenon started to go pink so I had the pair replaced for the Philips XTreme bulbs, there's a noticeable difference although the previous pair could have been around 10 years old assuming they have never been changed. Link to the bulbs below.

No, xenons are self levelling and not adjustable from the cabin. I think you're talking about halogen lights.

Xenon beams can be adjusted under the bonnet, theres an allen key style screw which you use to adjust each side

well, I ordered some £20 winpower 6000k efforts off amazon and set about replacing them yesterday. It's not a difficult job on the E92 but time consuming. Allow about an hour and a half to do both sides. You need to remove both front wheels then the front portion of arch liner with are held in place by 17 8mm screws and a 10mm plastic nut each! once you've got the liners out all is there for you to see. 5x torx (sorry, didn't take note of the size) screws hold the cover on the back then you're into where the bulb is. Very easy to swap out and the new cheapies have made the world of difference to the Philips (originals?) that I took out. The lights are now excellent!
