Hi All

I need to replace my tyres on my 318iSE.

They currently have the following
235/35 R19 - Front
255/35 R19 - Rear

I don't think they are run flats... so unsure if I need them.
And I also have a spare alloy wheel in the boot!

I need to change the fronts at present.

My question is do I change like for like or do I go with the ones recommended on say blackcircles etc?

My knowledge of tyres is limited. I can change a tyre and that's about it.

Are you sure your sizes are correct. I would expect to see "30" profile on the rear.
I run 225/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rear.
I would not even consider run flats. It is accepted as one of the best modifications you can do to these cars is to fit "normal" tyres and throw the run flats in a skip.
It helps save your wheels from cracking too!
As for brands that is very much personal preference, the size of your budget, how many miles you expect from them, what sort of drive you expect etc. etc.
If you ask for recommendations you will be told that 15 different tyre makes are the best thing since sliced bread and you will be no better off.
What have you got on the car at present?

The tyres are definitely the ones listed above. I'm unsure of the brand.

Should I change the fronts and backs to the recommended sizes.
As the ones you have mentioned are the recommended sizes on black circles etc

The sizes on the sticker & blackcircles aren't recommend, they're the permissible sizes.

If it were me I would change to the "recommended" sizes.
The reason for the different profiles is to keep the front and rear wheel diameters as similar as possible.
As a rough calculation, with the sizes I have, for each revolution of the wheels the front wheels would travel 14mm further along the road than the rear wheels. Therefore they only need to spin slightly slower than the rears.
The set up that you currently have means that the rears would travel 44mm further along the road so effectively the fronts will need to spin faster than the rears to keep up.
It may not seem much but it is the opposite to what BMW intend to happen and it may (or may not I cannot be sure) play havoc with electronic trickery like stability control or abs. Your speedometer will probably be over-reading also.
If you can afford to change all four at once I would go for it and having a matched set of tyres on the car may improve the handling and comfort also.
