Bad injectors ?
A couple days ago I replaced my VCG and spark plugs because it was leaking oil violently shaking and the RPMS weren’t going past 4K. I didn’t run my car too much after I changed the VCG because i had work the next day. I started my car early in the morning and it idled harder than it did before originally. It’s sitting at 600-700rpms when idling but when I put it into gear it jerks a little then runs. I put some fuel system cleaner in hoping that it would maybe clean out the fuel injectors a little.
Is it possible that my fuel injectors are failing ? I do not think it’s my HPFP because it cranks with no problem. It also sounds like it doesn’t want to put gas into the chamber when I go 80+mph. Last edited by xRangR; 03-16-2018 at 07:45 PM.. |

no. swap your coils around first to make sure the misfire isnt being caused by something else. don't dump money into your car unless you have at least a pretty good idea that it's your injectors and not something else.

Yeah , that’s what I’m not trying to do. I’ll just get all 6 ignition coils, I should have changed them when I changed the vcg and spark plugs anyways, can’t trust a used car. Where should I get the coils from?

You just bought this car? Where was the oil leaking? Are you certain it wasn't the oil filter housing gasket?
Swapping the coils around is a troubleshooting thing, but replacing them all can't hurt and might solve your problem. Doesn't seem likely since they don't usually fail all at once.

When I bought my second hand 335xi I replaced Plugs, coils injectors and VC all at once. I tried the troubleshooting game of coils and injectors one by one and ultimately it was easier and the proper way just to get all new stuff. I understand people are on a budget but if you don't feel like chasing your tail just replace all those at once. Having old injectors or coils combined with new ones is just a recipe for more problems down the road as the older ones will fail anyway. If you don't have any codes for the fuel pump it's probably not the issue yet. Unfortunately codes don't always pop up blatantly enough to point to something specific on this platform. Also check the index on your injectors, it's the last number on them. |
