Dension 500S BT or something else?
Hi all,
So I've joined the club with my 2008 325D E90. I've got the I-Drive professional Nav (CCC) but nothing else in the car (phone, cd changer, etc etc). I'd like to get hands free and Bluetooth audio into the car. Looking around it seems like pretty much everything emulates the CD Changer, I've seen boxes by Fiscon, Dension, Vocomo, and generic Chinese unbranded stuff that all sit on the MOST bus and do the same thing, with the notable exception of the Vocomo which seems to tap the head units Aux for Audio and the steering controls. The Dension 500S BT seems the best one of all as I can get the track information on screen and control skipping back and forth via the car controls as well as making and receiving calls using my phones inbuilt contact list. Does any one have any other suggestions which might be good fit? Also if I have the system coded to support the CD changer and one isn't installed will it cause any issues? |

Probably the least invasive way to get high quality digital input into
the existing system. The BMW aux is noted to be a low quality Input even by analog standards. There are some big threads on how to use a DAC to try to squeeze some more fidelity out of it that have some success. If you do a combox or mulf2 OEM module its much more programming and wire routing. Plus the gateway 500s bt gives you A2DP bluetooth music if you want that. |

Thanks for the advice.
Another question, does anyone know if I have the : "KMP3","CCC_MP3","CDC_MP3" options coded in before I have the Dension installed will it cause any problems being as there's no existing CD changer installed? Thanks. |

Dension makes a programming dongle that is suppose to do it all.
since Dension is handling the media though I would think that it would be all taken care of by the unit. In there enabling explination. I have never seen them mention anything but enabling the cdc. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dension http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dension http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dension http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dension http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dension http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=mobridge Also there is some stuff on ytube. |

I am actually disappointed by the A2DP audio quality of my Dension. Having done some research, the reason seems to be the Bluetooth audio codec. Apparently, Dension only supports SBC, although most mobile phones today already support AAC or aptX. My AUX input on the other hand provides the same audio quality as CD, when I listen to music from my old iPod. Last edited by Chuck68; 03-23-2018 at 07:04 AM.. |
