Yup you're in a situation where you need to do the heads asap after you buy it and if you're going to do the heads you might as well do the cam and id you're going to do the cam you might as well go FBO. So on a so forth.
And I dont care what anyone says building up/modding a LS isnt THAT cheap. Ive seen the parts list/receipts on some of my friends LS powered cars. A heads/cam/fbo C6Z is a monster though. |

Not true. He raced that night with a evo also that makes 480awhp and he killed the vett. Unless the vet driver is lying about the hp.

What is the qualification for fastest FBO? Here in hillbilly SC, guys will take a stock fox body and for under 10K including the car run low to mid 10s. They can't stop or turn worth a damn, but they can run the 1/4.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison with your races but my previous N54 car (582whp at ~24psi on a Dynojet, ~20psi at the track) was only .2 mph quicker and about ~3 mph faster than my current C6 (only 425whp on a Dynojet) at the same track, same season with similar 60ft times.

I think best bang for the buck is the Coyete Mustang. However if you look at the bigger picture (styling, handling, refinement and performance) the N54 platform is hard to beat and has to be at the top of any list.
My biggest beef with the N54 is the super high maintenance cost and all of the issues plagued by this generation (HPFP, Injectors, Water pump) my 08 335i for example had original injectors, original HPFP major expenses to consider which will eat into any FBO budget and has to be considered when buying one.

I've been into cars and racing for over 20 years. I've also owned Corvettes, vr4 all kinds of stuff, had. 65 mustang and turbo AWD eclipse (total junk, as with anything miysubitchi makes I clueing our stock turbos!!).
When I see out for another performance car five years ago, I knew I wanted two things: turbo, and AWD. I heard about the 335 and was like oh hell yeah it's even a v6. Can't get AWD in a mustang, Dodge, Camaro or Corvette ... Yes you can put blowers on Coyotoes just search YouTube for all the blown up motors as a result. They are NOT made for boost, they're made to be high compression NA motors. Same with vetted and such. 335 came from factor with boost in mind and can take a TON of it as we've seen. I've owned several mustangs. This is the best car I've ever had, driven, ridden in, anything. I'm 48, it'll probably be the last car I ever own... I love it THAT much. |

As for AWD, I’ll cede that as it’s never been a big part of the domestic scene. Congrats on finding the car you want exactly as you want it though.

Actually the mustangs do NOT hold boost well. Even back in the 80s and 90s when I had a built one everyone who had them knew all about common blown head gaskets due to not having enough head bolts. I've taken entire 5.0 motors apart and am very familiar with mustangs. Even owned a turbo svo.
And every time I turn around I'm hearing of a coyote spinning a rod bearing or blwoing something up and building up a motor because they put a charger on it. They aren't anywhere near the N54. They make a big deal about finally getting direct injection lol. Many 335s running around with 250,000, even 300 miles and run great. If you ever had a mustang or Camaro do that, you're very lucky indeed! I sure haven't. Plus alot of the other things on them fall apart around 80k. My c5 had electrical issues at 90k and so did my friends zo6 Last edited by Quick335XI; 03-25-2018 at 02:03 PM.. |

When my N54 goes eventually, hopefully after a good 220k+ miles, I'm gonna put in a monster built up motors with titanium valve train, stroker cam and some nice LUMPY camshafts ... And, of course, a GINORMOUS single turbo snail!! |

^ Just gonna have to agree to disagree with you on the modern 5.0s’ capability and reliability when boosted.
With regards to overall reliability and longevity... I’d trust C5/C6 Vettes, 5G Camaros, S197s, S550s, etc. to go over 100k miles more reliably than e8x and e9x cars (either stock or modded) based on what I have personally experienced and witnessed, YMMV.

335 is a SOLID car I've owned two now, would and had very little problems. ALL cars have issues, I have a friend with a Toyota Camry and needs a transmission at 110k. Only issues of any significance with 335 are the water pumps and every 100k isn't much to complain about. Can't count the turbos they were made by miysubitchi.
