Code 00A6D1 electric water pump
Did a search but couldnt locate an answer but need help. Recently had this code come on. Cleared it several times but it continues to come back. Pulled pump connector but do not know if pump is getting power or not. Pump does work as i could jumper the pump and it does turn on but sounds slow or weak but unsure how it is supposed to sound. Was going to check fuse box but unsure which fuse is for the pump.
Previous to this my battery died one day and i jumped the car and checked codes and this did not come up. Car ran and started fine. Then a few days later it was dead again and i did not check for codes. Replaced battery and so far no problems with dead battery. Checked codes again a few days later just to be safe and this code was present. My SES light is on all the time because i blocked off egr. Bad pump? Blown fuse? Does anyone know where the fuse is located? Thanks in adavance |

I've had this code for years, apparently it is very common but no one seems to care because its only used for the "rest" mode when the car isn't running.
The pump is fairly expensive to replace (~$170 USD) as well. The connector for it is very easy to see, you could try looking for corrosion on it? |

It's the pump most likely. It's located in the engine compartment on the drivers side wheel well.
Mine went out at about 70k miles and I waited till 92k miles (when I replaced my thermostat and water pump). Initially I pulled mine out and hit it with 12VDC off a battery with high current wires to attempt bring it back to life but no luck. I was able to find a working used on on EBay for $60 shipped. So far so good. |
