Any Coding Experts Available for Some Help - Battery

My battery went completely flat while out of town, so flat I couldn't jump the car. I took the battery out and to a shop to charge overnight. They charged it and said the battery was still good.

I re-installed the battery, but now when I put the key in, I get a red steering wheel with a lock symbol and the car wont do anything other than turn on the radio.

I found a thread here - and it is possible that all I need is to recode the part of the ECU to recognize the keys again? Thoughts?

It is not a new battery so I don't want to re-code for a new battery, unless this is necessary.

I have the cable and the software (INPA, NCS Expert, BMW coding tool, etc.) to do this, I just have used teamviewer in the past and had someone with experience do it (coded some features and an FRM 2 module).

My car is 2007 328xi wagon (e91).

Impac is the man!

He walked me through reading and clearing codes through INPA and resetting the ELV count with tool32

for anyone else who comes across this here is what we did (took 5 min)

open INPA, read codes, clear codes, close INPA
open tools32, open CAS file, double click steuern_elvcounter_cas_loeschen, close window that opened, double click steuern_elvcounter_elv_loeschen, close window that opened, closed tools32
open INPA, read codes, clear codes, close INPA

then the car started!
