Meth Help Needed - Rehab Not Required
Hi All,
I just picked up an 09 335d. Here are the specs:
I want to run meth for cleaning purposes, and I'll take any benefits by way of power or mpg gains. I've read for hours and can't find a diy for a meth kit install and I am seeing a lot of different options out there. Can anyone help me with a recommendation based on the above and maybe some diy direction for install. |

It seems priced fair and BPC supports it and I trust them as a tuner. I just have no clue on how to install it. Im pretty diy savvy, but I'm not familiar with meth completely. Did you install it yourself?

I looked them up briefly. I am still all very new to meth and how it needs to be set up and configured etc. What I understand the snow kit that most get, and that bpc offers is set to run strictly off of boost and then there is the question of 1 nozzle or 2 nozzles. I've seen people do it differently. It seems as though torqbyte allows for multiple parameters so that for example RPM and boost can be targeted so it doesn't spray at low rpm high boost situations like close to idle, which I believe results in quenching. I like that torqbyte is canadian but they are just a controller right, not a whole kit?
I emailed snow performance and they linked me to a stage 2.5 kit with braided lines and then a separate link for the length of hose i'd need and a separate link for the 2.5 gallon tanks. All together it seemed like it would come to about $1000 USD or so. I still feel like I need to read more to get a better understanding in terms of # of nozzles and size of nozzles etc. I want something simple to clean the valves and what little CBU is there since the walnut blasting about 30K km ago. |

I think the ideal set up would be: Torqbyte 2 nozzles (1 smaller for low boost low rpm scenarios, 1 bigger one for the opposite) stainless braided lines trunk mounted tank big enough to last at least one full tank of gas or more |

I think you are on the right track with the 2-stage approach. That is what I did, and it has been working almost flawlessly for a few years now. Apart from racing (bigger nozzle), a small nozzle coming in between 10-15psi will give the cleaning/maintenance-type effect as well as temper EGT, preventing high EGT/spikes on things like long, uphill mountain pulls.
I discovered quite by accident last year, the W/M is what was enabling upper range fueling for more than a few seconds on my tune. The engine malfunc warning started popping up at some point for no apparent reason. After scratching my head and checking stuff for many weeks I noticed the water tank wasn't dropping as fast as expected, and found the small nozzle clogged. After replacement, the warning alert disappeared and the thing started pulling hard for as long as my courage lasted once again. There was a point of hard fueling before the big nozzle kicked in that allowed EGT to get too high. Last edited by Nadir Point; 01-30-2019 at 12:05 PM.. |

Thats good feedback. I'm still researching a lot. Its a little challenging trying to understand exactly all the components I would need, where to place them, wire them, etc but I am going to keep going. The main components I believe I have a handle on.

You can use a devils own kit but I do not recommend their solenoid for a couple reasons. Many here seem to like the Snow kit. If you really just looking for the cleaning benefits Torqbyte may be bit too much for your use but it is the best overall way to go.

I might just buy all the other components from snow performance as I don't hear too many people knocking them. |
