I dont have before and after dynos. I threw them out, because I am on a new 2 door 335. They are easy to do. Go to a reputable muffler shop, and either just cut them out and replace with larger diameter pipe, or take them down and do the same. DO NOT gut. See, you just buy Terrys simms which worked PREFECT, and cut the cats out. So, if you ever have to, just go back and reweld them back in. Easy. Should cost somewhere around 100-150 to do. I had them, and they gave just as much power as aftermarket dps, and I loved the sound of it with my magnaflow custom exhaust~

Well the second downpipe manufacturers stop charging $800 for $100 worth of steel and take their prices into the realm of all other developed FI platforms Audi S4/WRX/EVO I am sure less people will look for an alternative

Some are priced well under $800. There is significantly more fabrication involved in one of these downpipes than say a WRX or Evo, and there are two downpipes, not just one. Also, right now the volume is not anything near the WRX/Evo crowed, so a manufacturers cost is much higher. The material cost alone is about 3x what you guessed.
