Target IAT Temp to Run Meth Injection
with summer quickly approaching, when should i turn on my meth injection system?
other than checking the nozzle, should i inspect anything in the system before turning it on/plugging it in? |

What u need to do is fill up ur tank if empty and do a purge with nozzzle out.. Also your IAT is always going to be higher than ambient even in the winter.. Especially when you drive the car around town after it has reached operating temp.. Last edited by Pladi; 04-26-2019 at 11:55 AM.. |

it was my limited understanding that meth wasn't needed in colder months due to the ambient temps being lower than summer months

As long as you arent tuned for it you can leave it off whenever. But if your tune is meth specific it should be on any time you get into target boost range.
If you are just using it for cooling, use it at your discretion but it is beneficial regardless of ambient temp |

What gets the charged air hot is the turbo. Summer doesnt help but the real heat comes from the turbo. So even in the winter it can be very beneficial if ur tuned for it. |

No point not trying to get the coldest IATs possible, so I would run all the time. Sure in winter the cooling power of meth while not make as big of a difference as you think it might in summer, but it still allows you to cool the compressed air that is a lot hotter than winter ambient temps. The compressor allows you to have air at a higher pressure but that also comes with higher temperatures. While the fact that the air is pre-compressed before entering the combustion chamber of the cylinder helps you deliver more power, the high temperatures of air do not. So use that meth!

Meth is a two part thing. Not just for cooling but it increases octane. So if ur tune is aggressive, not running meth all year round really does not make sense unless u switch the tune. |
