So went for my first real drive since finishing my my turbo replacement, and when I stopped, there is coolant pouring out, near the water pump. My guess (hope) is that one of the water pump/thermostat lines is loose. Easy fix.
Is there anything else I should look at if the lines are good? Common points of failure? |

I have my doubts that it's the turbo line, because of the amount coming out and where it's located. Additionally I repacked all the orings, and all went smoothly.
The upipe or the tstat lines are my guess. |

So the thermostat is split. There are 3 "tabs" equidistant apart that should have bolts running through them holding the halves together. The pictures I've seen have bolts, mine don't. Is this an early version?
Has anyone tried the Rein thermostat? Awesome price and there other |

More frustration
Does anyone know what each of the 4 lines on the tstat does?
I replaced the tstat an went for a drive. When I stopped it was leaking a bit. Then while I was watching, it just puked a bunch out. Like something switched open and dumped. I'm hoping that a line popped off and this will help me figure out which |

If your still loosing coolant the issue is a hose. It's possible that you either have air in the system, a hose has a small cut in it that only leaks with pressure, or the clamps are too loose/not 100% fitted around the waterpump/thermostats correctly.

There's a plunger type mechanism inside and it dump suddenly, I watched it happen. So I'm wondering if it opened or closed allowing coolant to go to a hose it previously wasn't able to. Edit: Yesterday I was finally able to look into the second dump. Good news/bad news the good news is it was only the U pipe that had come off. The bad news, or at least frustrating news is that I didn't forget to tighten it, the hose clamp had actually snapped. |
