Best HID fog light kit?
If you have a HID fog light conversion, please let me know what your experience was with it. Was it easy to install, any errors with your car's computer system, quality of the kit, etc. I've only seen the following vendors' kits being advertised (see below); if you have something different, please link to the website so I can take a look. Thanks for your help!

I have 6000k HID fog since december 2006.
only worked out with relays and resistors, which I made by my own hands.

i have the HID fog kit from dhp. i installed the kit friday, so far so good. the install wasnt that hard. i will post some pics later this week. i just want to make sure there wont be an error thrown. i know mds82 said that he had HIDs, but htey were only 90% error free. i want to make sure these are totally error free before i say how good these are, but so far i am liking them alot. these also have a one year warranty.
here is the dhp link to where i got my hid kit. you just need to pm him. here is the link to the website.

Best HID fog light kit is ANY KIT THAT WORKS! I wish it wasn't so hard looking for kits that dont throw errors but our cars are so sensitive that most hid kits out there will throw the code.
Or if you are talking about which HID kits are the most useful, i.e. function over form, that would be 3000k hid's. |

I'm more than satisfied with my non eroor throwing 8000k HID foglights. My car was built in late 07 so I think that is part of the reason it doesn't throw a code.

even with projectors and 8000k fogs, they'd still be pretty useless. The higher you go in the kelvin scale, the less output there is. Plus it has been proven that only YELLOW light cuts through fogs. So 6000k....8000k etc etc will only make the fog worse and reflect more light instead of cutting through the fog.

Here's an FYI post. I'm using these HIDs in my foglights and there's no error codes (same ones I used in my old B7 S4 and no error codes either). The reason why I'm using these is because the ballasts are much thinner and self-contained with built-in relays so there's a lot less wires and they're perfect for tight spaces. I used the ones in my S4 for about 16 months before I turned the car back in, and I've been using these in my 328i for the past couple of months now. I even have a set in our Cayenne S for the foglights and no problems for the past 8 months.
I wouldn't say these are better than other brands out there, but for $110 shipped I figured it wouldn't hurt to try out. Here are some pics to give you an idea how small the ballasts are: |

Anyone have done the Fog HID kit and draw power from another power source beside the factory connection? Please tell me where to draw power from, pictures will be awesome. Usually battery will be the first place comes to my mind when its comes to where to draw the power, but for our car its a different story. Thank you very much in advances.

I have the solution....
I draw the power from the battery and put resistors to trick the ECU. I'm using it on my car for 4 months so far, and no issues until now.... NOT A SINGLE ERROR. I mentioned this before, I'm selling the kit.....

The problem with the E90/E92 is that an HID kit without a relay harness may work on some cars however it will not work on other cars. As a result, we include a relay harness with all of our HID kits. Check out our E90 Spring Sale thread for more information.
