New car smell going away...
Ahh. So I've had my baby for 2 weeks since redelivery now. I don't notice the new car smell as much anymore. It's slowly fading, although other people still smell it. How long before it all goes away? Not that I want it to. I like the smell.

Your probally getting used to the smell. Do you drive lots with your sunroof/windows open? That will speed up the process of losing the nice smell. If you have leather, regular cleaning and conditioning will help keep things nice. I use zaino which smells like a leather store!

If you want to preserve that new-car smell, you'll have to treat the interior of your car with a protocol similar to that of a hazardous materials handling facility. Well, maybe not that stringent, but my rules are: no un-lidded drinks, no overly tall or too wide lidded drinks, food goes in the trunk, keep windows up (with the exception of the occasional sun roof tilt), and the AC always on recirculate. I've had my car since 10-10, with 6800 miles on it, and it still smells like it did when I got it.
edit: and periodic leather/carpet/trim cleaning/conditioning |

...I agree with Danny, you're probably getting used to it. I was feeling the same way but then I had a passenger who has never been in the car and she remarked of how wonderful new car smell is...

The plastics in the car actually produce the "new car smell" and is toxic and potentially hazardous. Fortunately, test have shown that BMW uses plastics that have low levels of these toxic chemicals.

If you love the smell so much: can't you buy it in a can or something?
