What is fuse 58 for? E90, 2011 335D

Asking because of a crank, no start issue.

Tried to start (now 36 hours of no start, before only happened when engine hot, would start after cooling for several hours), but only cranked and wouldn't start.

Removed fuse 58, and cranked, the car started immediately.

Put fuse 58 back in and it started again.

Last week dealer found high current faults on pump relay and fuel pump and recommended they be replaced.

I posted more details on page 6 of this thread. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...9#post25085819

Looks like obd socket and instrument cluster.

Thank you for this info. It does answer the question posed, but doesn't help me diagnose what might be wrong in my 'cranks but no start' case.

In this post (https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1248630) it refers to 'Bobs Q&A post', but not sure which post that refers to.

Anyone have any idea which is 'Bobs Q&A post' as written by @[WreckerX5d] (contact:103271) around the 9th or 10th reply of that post just referenced?

Perhaps it will be more specific on which sensors fuse 58 might be related to.

Any codes? When I had a sensor issue it was power management code for bus 1. In that site I traced it down to 6 sensors. Turned out it was another sensor that went bad and shorted the supply.

You can click the number designations on the lines themselves after the fuse to see more detailed schematics. Here's the line that goes out to both https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...fuse/q-30%3C58
3 of those are the items on the line. The kombi cluster looks to have the most detail.

On the top if you click the "i" icon it gives you a legend on how to interpret these diagrams. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e..._200703/legend

If Fuse58 out allows you to start the car without issues, does that mean you are starting with no instrument cluster?

Or are you replacing F58 before trying to start?

Op, did you have the passenger airbag recall done recently? They have to remove the whole dash for that and some have had issues like no gps, etc, so a wire could have been pinched.
