E92/E92 LCI headlights - couple questions (mainly US vs Euro)
I've just bought a used 335is (so obviously US spec) with mild collision damage. Among others I need to take care of headlights - one is actually working, just a broken tab, but the other is gone completely.
Now, since I live in Europe, it would be best to get a set of Euro spec lamps - but they cost an arm and a leg (and a half), so I'm just checking out some other options. What I want to know is this: 1. What is the actual difference between Euro and US-spec headlights of the same spec (I mean: E92, LCI, xenon, adaptive, LED elements)? I know that US has amber cornering lights (which I can easily code out), but what else? The beam pattern is supposed to be the same, but how about intensity? I've read somewhere that US usually has weaker lights due to federal regulations. Makes some sense, in EU all xenons require mandatory headlight washers because of higher intensity than halogens, which doesn't apply in US. 2. Where on this headlight can I find actual BMW OE part number? They usually have an orange sticker but none of the numbers there resemble anything from realoem, and I found another number on the back of headlight assembly, but it doesn't match either. Help? |
