Missing Jet Black Paint on door??
I was finally cleaning up my car today and noticed on the passenger side door panel that there are two splotches that look like when the door was painted at the factory, the machine somehow missed a splotch of paint, or a layer of paint (the spot is lighter then the rest and you can "see through" a clearcoat layer)... (ill take pictures tomorrow when its light out)
Any ideas?? Has anyone else had this issue? Should I confront my dealer about this? Any way to fix this without repainting the door?? (car is a month old...) |

My friend had a similar problem with is Cadillac Escalade. From the factory the paint system missed the rear lower half of the vehicle due to the painting machine running out of paint.
When he bought the SUV new, he did not notice it. Two days after her bought the car he went on a trip, and when he came home and washed his SUV he noticed the spot. The next day he went back to the dealership and showed them the spot. He made a big deal about how he didn't want the down time of the car being in the shop to be repainted, and how the car will never be perfect again after the repaint. He had just spent $60,000+ on a new car and he wanted every part of the car to be perfect. So in conclusion the dealership took good care of him. They pulled a new Escalade off the lot that was the same color and switched him straight up even though by this time, the car that had the paint problem had 1,000 miles. Personal I would take the same stance if it was my car for if I just spent the money on a new car, I would want it perfect. If it ends up that the part was not painted try pulling the same move my friend did, and see if you can get a new car, or at least a really nice loaner for the down time. Hope this helps and good luck, Jared

Thanks for the suggestion!
I went to the dealer today and got the paint checked out. Turns out that when they ship the cars since they have the door guard on, sometimes "moisture gets in, and discolors the paint" and all they have to do is pull out the heatgun and give that area of the door a lil heating and it goes away. I believed this to be an entirely bogus explanation until it worked, and my paint looks normal now. So whatever the reason, its good now, no painting needed ![]() Best case scenario I would say |
