Methanol in the tank?

e85 is pretty hard to get to for me but a methanol pump is literally around the corner form my office, I use it in my meth injection.
That said, im having trouble finding much data or documented use of methanol over e85 in the tank. Does it not mix with 93 well?

You haven't found much information on N54s and using methanol injection?

Are your eyes closed when searching?

d - if I'm not mistaken, I think he was talking about adding methanol straight to his tank.

Sorry, read it wrong since I guess I just assumed nobody would be asking about putting methanol in their actual fuel tank with how taxed our fuel system already are.

No. You cant. You would need massive amounts of fuel system upgrades to handle this. You need so much more methanol than you do gasoline, way more than e85.

got it now, thought he was just asking if he could run straight meth in his methanol tank.

I was speaking of mixing with 93.
Im trying to find information on mixing methanol with 93 octane in the fuel tank. Similar to mixing e85 for an e30/e40/e50 etc mix.

Lots of people do it, but it is even more corrosive on the fuel system than ethanol

No, ethanol is not more "corrosive" than ethanol on fuel system components. If your fuel system can handle ethanol, it will be fine with methanol.

If you're interested in why fuels with alcohol may cause problems in older or non-"flex fuel" systems, just go to Wikipedia. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

OP:
Type-dRew raises the most important point, which is the volumes of fuel that need to be injected. To equal the energy in 1 gal of gasoline, you need 1.6 gallons of ethanol and 2.1 gallons of methanol. So you'll run out of headroom on your HPFP fairly quickly.

But if you just want to improve the performance of 91 oct gasoline, a few gallons of methanol per tank, in theory, should be fine. Disclaimer: never tried using methanol this way.

Not trying to get in a pissing match but methanol is widely known to be corrosive. Many people on the platform have had injector issues using high ethanol percentages when they let their cars sit for an extended period of time - I would suspect this would be worse with methanol. OP should be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of running any kind of alcohol in the fuel system.

OK, no pissing match but it's probably better to read about chemistry from someone other than topspeedparts
