You'll most likely need to wait a few months to a year before a solid solution comes into play for the AT's. The level 10's seem to be a hit and miss and for 10k, that's really not worth it. I myself just decided to do the manual swap since I didn't want to just run the power anyways (750whp on a top mount single and e85) and risk destroying the AT trans. I have one available if any of you want it (for a great price too!) for testing/backup trans or whatever.
I loved the auto transmission in our cars due to its amazingly quick shifts and smoothness for daily driving. But when it comes to making power - a manual swap isn't all that hard nor is it costly in any way if done yourself. Plus, less moving parts, less chances of failures and cheaper maintenance. But I know what you mean when you say you want to keep the AT. Just need to be patient and wait on someone to engineer some quality upgrades for the transmissions internals/TC. |

I just did the pan and fluid swap on my 6AT with 7.5 quarts of Redline D4. Had 97K on the original fluid. Shifts are much more stout with authority now, and a little less slip under peak torque shifts.

For the sake of argument and this question isn't directed at OP for obvious reasons, but for those that have done a Manual swap from 6AT, considering doing one, or others whom of which are worried about the 6AT longevity when pushing 600whp+, why not swap to DCT instead? From what I've read, it's around the same cost and it's arguable that the DCT can hold great power.
Just look at FBO F10 M5's running on DCT as well as M3/M4's.. am I missing something or? |

Then depending on your year, you may need a to get a new MSD81 ECU for the DCT trans. And a new DSC pump. I priced out a 6MT swap last year using mostly used OEM eBay and junkyard parts and it was just under $2000 not including labor. Obviously you'll want to upgrade the clutch and flyhweel at the same time.

So it's been a couple of years since this thread was made and I was wondering if there has been any advancements with the 6at transmission. My car has upgraded turbos and it is only a matter of time when it will fail with the added power. Just not sure which direction I should take when it fails..
1. Buy another used 6at until it blows up again. 2. Convert it to a manual car 3. Buy a manual car and transfer over all of the mods ![]() |

How much extra torque holding ability does the xHP stage-3 flash add to the stock transmission?
