Fastest Transmission 9 Speed 7 clutch from Koenigsegg

With 9 gears 3 shafts and 7 clutches and you never lose torque in up shifts
2 millisecond for clutches open and close

What's very impressive is that it doesn't have a flywheel and the transmission with differential weights at 90 KG 198lbs

Here is the video that explains how this transmission works

I think this is mostly a move for vMax, an area that EV's are still comically weak.

It's mainly designed for super fast shifting times and end speed.
He has Regera which is hybrid with 700hp electric motor.

Yup, plus the shift times are crazy fast

To be fair, you can say that a regular manual transmission also has multiple clutches. Synchronizers are cone clutches, they are just not used to hold the power, instead, dog collars are used. This new transmission is a logical continuation of this concept, instead of synchros and dog collars, they use multiplate clutches, which can be applied faster and allow for continuous torque transmission. All in all, brilliant development of an old and tried concept into something high-tech. Koenigssegg is a genius indeed

It's not only fast shifting and end speed. This gearbox is also very light and very compact, which are both very important in a small high performance car (a koenigsegg is quite a small hypercar)

It's quite an achievement that such a small company can develop their own gearbox. Unlike say...Bugatti that just outsources their gearbox with Ricardo.
But Koenigsegg is full of technological innovations. I think they're probably one of the most innovative automotive companies worldwide and they do that with only 200 personell or so.

And what's probably their biggest achievement, is that they can do all these innovations AND make a profit.
If you look at their biggest exclusive hypercar competitor, Bugatti, those are basically rolling VAG billboards. I think i've read that the chiron must sell more cars than Koenigsegg ever sold in their entire history to even hit break even point.

Here Christian von Koenigsegg tells a bit more about the jesko and how this gearbox came to be (starts around 4:00):

A 3 speed EV would probably solve that?

ZF has either already made or is currently designing a 2 speed transmission for EV vehicles
