Hello all...

Are/have any of you had issues with your voice command not recognizing any contacts on the iPhone?

On the cars screen all my contacts are there. I can scroll through, select and make calls this way without any problems. However, if I try to voice command a call by contact name, the computer tells me, "there are no names in the address book". And too, voice command works fine if I call out the number to be dialed. It just doesn't recognizing any contact names.

Any and all help appreciated.....

first time i've ever been able to use this!!!!






the name has to be stored in the car's memory (not your phone) in order for you to voice-dial by name. Even if your phone supports voice-dialing, the car can't access it. the car's address book is separate from your phone's contacts. you can only voice dial by name if the name's stored in the car's address book.

read the part in the manual about entering names/numbers - it explains the whole thing.

I've never entered a phone number into the car's memory and I've always been able to voice dial by name

Yea, mine voice dials off my phone memory...

Maybe it's only in non-Navi cars then. I don't have Navi and I can't do it unless the name is programmed in the car. That's what my manual says too.

I did read the manual but still can't use the voice command with my iPhone.

The manual says to say "Store Name" after the beep, but it doesn't understand what I am saying and turns off after 3 trials. I thought it might be my accent (not native, but not a heavy accent either) so I asked an American friend to speak for me but it didn't work either.

What am I missing?
