I have it and mainly use it to follow celebrities, cool car owners, as well as some comedy pages, etc. but I don't use it to post, same thing with twitter as well. Rarely use Facebook anymore, its layout has been annoying for some time, and more and more spam is posted there now and many people get too political, just don't care enough to really use it.

Instagram has it's pros and cons. I started using it as a form of wasting time that wasn't facebook....not as much drama. Fast forward 5 years and the drama found instagram although it still isn't as bad as facebook. The most annoying thing about instagram is the "models" and the "influencers" that feel this somehow makes them famous which leads to elitist mindsets.

It's the best form of social media for the modern generation that experiences ADD... it overloads you with photos and is programmed to continuously show you more and more with what you wish to see.

Outside of following a particular subject, its #1 goal is showing off people's "curated lifestyles" and advertising crappy 3rd party brands by "influencers".

Yep - go for it. I get tired of the FB dribble, but I am on it a lot too to keep up with friends and family. Listening to all the online "experts" in all areas and their soapbox speeches gets.....old.....fast. 60% of posts I just cruise by as dribble.

That is why I LOVE Instagram. You can't just get up each morning and post your ridiculous opinion in text wasting valuable space. It is all pics and videos and so much more for time burning. Makes me laugh and much less dribble. So I use FB to keep up and Insta for entertainment mostly. Got my super old school redneck buddy on it too and now he loves it and forwards me links all the time.

The search link is your best friend. It shows you things you might like based on your history and has TON of new stuff for you to see every day even from people you are not following. thebeastufc is on of my favorites - that dude posts some funny stuff.

Instagram is where all the attention whores gather. Some of it is good, but there are a lot of annoying "look at me" posters on there. It's similar to Facebook, it can be used for good or evil. Facebook can be used to keep in contact with far away friends or relatives, or you can post what you eat for breakfast and every time you lift 3 more pounds than you did yesterday.

I used it to follow the construction progress on a condo we bought last year, because that’s how updates were delivered. But I never used it for anything else before or since, and have never posted anything on it.

I used Insta a lot when I ran a photography business. I think it remains a good source for photography-oriented stuff. Images and inspiration from other photographers. I don't use it for anything else. No FB for me.

I'm in the core age demographic and resisted for the longest time but gave in because....I'll admit I felt it was holding me back with dating. Unfortunately a lot of girls, even intelligent and accomplished ones, subconsciously view you with suspicion if you don't have one.

I've found it mostly comes down to how you use it. I mainly follow automotive and sports pages. I try not to follow people who I don't know well and/or don't care about. The one thing you can't escape is the littany of advertisements for bullshit products.

Most people get caught into the trap of following "influencers" who make a living on posting bs relentlessly. I live near LA too so there's a lot of these types. Dudes will stare at dumb chicks all day on Insta and boost their egos, while simultaneously feeling unhappy because they aren't with that girl.

Agreed 100%.

I'm not making an account though. If someone doesn't want to date me because I don't have 1 of their preferred forms of social media (I still have FB and Snapchat so I'm not a totally unlisted creep), they can politely go fuck themselves. Their loss. You don't want to date chicks like that anyway. They would probably be the ones scrolling through it during the entire date.

I mostly use mine as a daily journal. Keep my account on private. Lots of pictures of my and my gf. Only my close friends follow that one.

For my car I also use that as a tool to connect with other enthusiasts and also detail my build.
