Meguiars NXT Spray Detailer

Whats goin on guys?

Im sorta new to the whole detailing thing, i usually have my guy do it for me because hes one of the best but its fun and i like to mess around with this stuff.

I use the NXT car wash liquid for washes but id like to know if the spray detailer is any good for a little gloss enhancing after the wash is done? If not, what can i pick up from a local autozone, pepboys, etc that will give the car that extra shine. (Spray on stuff). Im not looking to buy online, only in store.

Thanks

Most OTC stuff is the same, and it is really not expensive. So try what you like and use it. I know meguairs ultimate detailer is ok stuff for OTC.

The QD is good stuff. I am sure all of us use it.

No substitute for a really good polish and wax/sealant.

It is a good touch up though.

From what i've heard NXT car wash is super aggressive and is almost like washing your car with just Dawn. I'd probably switch out to something else. You can get Gold Class car wash at most places so you should try that.

If you just want a OTC QD that gives you great shine, Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer is probably the best it gets as far as OTC goes. Just be aware that is streaks a lot.

Dude save your money and buy chemicalguys "Speed Wipe". In my option (and I have tried almost every QD) it is one of the best. It will blow any OTC QD out of the water with its shine and ease to apply and buff out. All you have to do is spray it on your car when you are done with a wash while the car is still wet, and buff it in as you dry the car. It will not leave streaks and works great on paint, metals, and windows. It also has a anti-static property so it will help repel some air born particles such as dust and pollen.

In the end you will buy a product that is a better value, gives a better shine, and is easier to use.

You can get it here:http://www.chemicalguys.com/Pink_Qui..._p/wac_102.htm

or here in 16oz size:http://www.chemicalguys.com/Pink_Qui..._p/wac_102.htm

Please, Please, Please, for the love of god, give Optimums new Instant detailer a try. Streakless under the worst conditions and slick and glossy to boot. Most qd, can be used as a drying aid, but if thats why you're looking for, I'd dump the QD route all together and get some Duragloss AW.

And another option if you feel like buying online is if FK1 #425. I bought this QD 2 years ago, immediately bought a 5 gallon container of it, and up until 3 months ago ran out. It is the definition of anti static QD's. I use it on my laptop, TV, interior glass, even reading glasses.

Please give my suggested products a proper search as I wouldn't want you to just take my word for. I'm pretty passionate about this topic for some reason. LOL...

If you end up with OTC anyway, Mothers Showtime and Meguairs Ultimate are really nice.

I'm gunna have to second that, Optimum Instant Detailer is the only detailer I've liked. It actually seems to add slight gloss and lots of slickness to the finish. I like using it after applying a carnuba because it seems to prevent them from attracting as much dust. No QD will repel dust, gravity is going to cause it to land on the finish regardless. However this prevents it from attracting more.

Joy, how would you compare fk425 to OID? Anything that the fk does better than the optimum?

what about CG synthetic quick detailer vs. CG speed wipe?

i want a quick detailer that i can use as clay lube, to remove bird crap, dust and it needs to be anti-static.

I really dislike the NXT products. Like someone else stated, far too aggressive.

The interior detail spray was like oil. It left spots everywhere. Got a small spray on a speaker once, and it left a few marks that wouldn't come out.

Fk-425 or Optimum Instant Detailer, order either by the gallon for a better value. A gallon of OID will make 4 Gallons of QD, if you order the 32 oz. size you can make a gallon, since you mix it 3 parts distilled water to one part of the product.

Would one of you guys be interested in trying out a bottle of Meguiar's new Ultimate Quick Detailer and comparing with your current favorite QDs?

The reason I ask is that this product was just released like ~2 months ago, and those who have tried it are raving that it's the best QD on the market right now (OTC or not). I was absolutely amazed by it, and its crazy hydrophobic properties, but I definitely don't have the product depth/experience like you guys.

People review that Megs UQD and the old QD are way different products. Like you guys mentioned, the old QDs were viewed as a solid OTC product, but there are definitely better out there. In comparison, UQD is being hailed as one of the best overall in the market today. It seems that sometimes, just because a brand is OTC, it seems to have a negative stigma attached to it....like OTC is automatically not as good as 'professional' products.

Yet Meg's UQD is the result and product of recent research, so is the newest 'researched' product to hit the market, vs great products that have been out for awhile. Hmm, not sure if I'm conveying my point well. Ah, I know. Everyone knows THE E46 M3 is a great car. Now out comes the E90/E92 335i, it's not an 'M' car, but nobody can dispute the performance excitement this car has generated. Same train of thought for Meg's UQD.

---

E.g. I have tried compared Meguiar's NXT 2.0, and think it's probably the most exciting OTC product (sealant) to-date. It's a great product, but not as good as JetSeal. Hoping for an unbiased comparison of Meg's UQD w/ the popular recommendations mentioned here.

Thanks.

I use the gold class soap too, that I like. It's not an NXT product.

I have tried the synthetic wax, which I didn't like working with, and the interior detail spray which was too oil based, it seemed.

I have tried UQD and wasn't impressed with it to be honest. I even got it cheap since I bought the $30 dollar gift pack with UQD, Nxt 2.0, QID, and some other stuff. Anyway I find that it doesn't really add much to the looks, and Aquawax is a much better alternative if you want a QD that has wax/sealant properties. Aquawax is probably the best OTC QD. And I'm not discrediting UQD because it's made by Meguiars, as I use plenty of Meguiars products, most of them from the professional line though.

I like FK1 #425 better, but, since I like to order most of my Misc. stuff from Autogeek for the overnight shipping, I'll probably keep ordering Optimums Intant Detailer. I hate how FK1 takes 2-3 days to ship and then 4 days to get here.
