Auto to Manual DME Question

So I posted a few days ago regarding a dme write issues a different thread with no response . I ended up pulling the DME and putting in another dme from another 3er MSV70. After getting it flashed by a local generic flashing service company the car runs and drives but my dash is lit up like a Xmas tree. He told me that it’s because the DME I provided him, while it is a MSV70 is from an automatic vehicle so it’s trying to contact the EGS - hence the codes (I have a 6spd). I did some reading on other posts when people did tranny swaps that you needed to delete $205 via NCSexpert. Not sure it’s this applies in my situation since the dme is off another car.

If anyone could provide step by step instructions on how to clear my dashboard I would appreciate it. Thanks!

There are some thread on auto to manual conversion in the general
forum where the programming is described. If I remember correctly
it's usually just a gear symbol that shows up.
Shouldn't the flasher have taken that into account.

I didnt know generic flashing car companies existed. I thought everyone was specialized -- seems scary.

VehicularDIY has a Youtube Channel and he did a manual conversion on his 335i. Maybe some hints there?

The 'new' DME needs to be updated using WinKFP (or ISTA/P) with the correct program and calibration files for your vehicle. Making coding changes with NCSExpert will not be enough. It seems clear that your 'generic' shop did not do this.

If you don't feel comfortable installing and using BMW Standard Tools, find a non-generic shop.

I ended up taking the car to a specialist who flashed a manual program/parameter onto my dme and took care of all of the errors. The only thing left is my cruise control does not engage. Not sure if it’s related to low brake pad (my brakes are due and scheduled this week)

There are a million possibilities here, worn brake pads not one of them.

Check the error codes.
