So my tires finally gave out on me, my regular Yokohama summer tires on my 18 in style 162s, one of them blew out when I was driving on a small residential road. After conferring with BMW assist, I waited 1 hr for the tow truck to arrive and he brought my car to Rallye BMW in West bury. I brought it in last Tuesday, since it was an emergency situation I'm pretty certain my car was on the back burner for the repair queue. Thus, the long one week repair wait.
A few days pass from the tire blowout, my SA tells me that two of my 162s are badly bent and needed to be replaced. I had a vibration in the steering wheel, but I ignored it. LOL! Previously, I purchased a set of Style 161s from shragon that I was to use as winter tires, but instead of paying $550/a wheel for two 162s, then buying four new tires for the 162s, I decided to use the style 161s as replacements. Along with the new tires the dealership did my 40K mile engine service, and needless to say, my car is running like new. No more steering wheel vibration, the throttle response is incredible, no more acceleration delay, im not sure if they did a software update, but it's like nothing I have experienced before. To come full circle with the full sized tires, the ride quality is more positive, I know I had to give up the bling factor of the style 162s, but in my opinion it was worth it. |
