DME fault

Hi everyone, I just owned an E90 N46N 320i with iDrive. I was informed by the repair shop that my car got a DME fault (they used ISTA) and there is no way but replace the new DME.

The repair shop noted the Check Engine did not light up when ignition on (without turning on the Engine) at first. They tested the gauge cluster on another car and it worked fine. They then checked the wires, they were good too. So the conclusion was faulty DME!

I'm pretty confused because the car is still running properly. ISTA showed no other fault.

Anyone know what I should do?

P/S: I reset Service required to default 30,000km but the 5,000km still there, but only shows up during engine starts. It's not counting down though I've driven more than 500km.

It's 002A6C with description: DME, internal fault
