Flat tyre indicator

Hi all new to this forum great stuff .Well were do i begin.
My e90 m sport came with 17" alloys with RFT all round, back tyres
on there limit so decided to go for a set of 18" CSL's with non-RFT's
(only 48 del time)Well as i was driving home from work still on 17's
when up lights flat tyre indicator along with a beep so i pull over and there's
a screw in the back tyre but not flat so on i go 1.5 miles to home,
keeping below 40mph every thing is well when the RFT indicator then turns
to red 100 mtrs before my front door no sweat .The new set wheels would
be waiting for me in the house so i set to work putting new wheels on and
checking air pressure's all round every thing is ok until i go to reset the RFT
indicator as per pages 66/67 in owner's handbook...Still showing red and as been since friday...I'm at a loss.Any help would great

not of your flat tyre though......

I had the same problem when I changed my tyre after a puncture AFAIK the tyre pressure indicator will only reset whilst the car is in motion.
Have you driven it, whilst trying to reset it

The first thing is to make sure it the tyre monitor is reset properly as Jason suggested.

Have you got rubber or metal valve stems on the wheels that were on the car???

Metal valve stems means that there is a TPMS (tyre pressure monitor system) inside the wheel that measure pressure.

Rubber valve stems suggests that the pressure is not measured in the wheel but the wheel rotation is monitored instead.

If the old wheels had TPMS and you changed it for wheels that dont have TPMS I dont think you can reset the tyre pressure monitor as the car is expecting signals from the wheels sensors.

I hope that it is just not reset properly

When i stopped at first the indicator was orange then turned red just yard's from the house.I have done 40 or so miles since putting the 18's on.

The tyre with the scew in has lost some pressure and no other damage to wheel or tyre

The old wheels have rubber valve's and metal dust caps the new alloys have the same

Hello and welcome BTW.

I had a similar situation on my E92 335d when one of the runflats developed a 'bulge' in the sidewall. The TPWS did it's job and alerted me of a loss in pressure. Tyre replaced and system re-set accordingly. However, since re-setting the TPWS, it came on (in orange) twice in the space of 2 weeks. Each time I checked the tyre pressures and all was ok. Point is, it never did it again after that initial clitch.

Oh yeah, where's yer pics.
