Man, have I been out of the loop here for a while! I got away from service work a few years ago when my parts business took over all of my time. Been parting out E39 M5's for about 10 years now and there just isn't time for anything else. Lots of shops offer the walnut blasting and pricing is competitive, so call around. There are good deals to be had.
