Anyone try out a Beck Arnley valve cover? I think I will try it out from RockAuto. The only B/A part that I've tried is brake rotors on my Honda a few years ago; that part seemed comparable to OEM and the usual Lemforder/Behr/Centric/Akebono quality that I am accustomed to.

I would pay for OE if they were significantly better, but OE doesn't seem all that great to start (witness N54's prone to all these leaks in the first place). I did notice from the Pelican website that the OE cover is a hefty 22lbs whereas the aftermarket ones are all around 10lbs. Pelican's aftermarket units are URO (which I would stay away from), Rein and Febi (slightly less desirable than the good aftermarket brands). I haven't managed to find a weight for the B/A unit.

I just fixed my OFHG with Mahle gaskets but I haven't started it up yet (fingers crossed). While doing it, I did notice oil seeping around the valve cover and oil pooling on top of the middle of the valve cover, so I am now planning my next oil leak repair . I think I will leave the 3rd oil leak (oil pan) until I start getting stuff on my garage floor. I'll leave that one to a shop since I have an X-drive and it sounds like a PITA.

My feeling is that going the B/A route is a safer bet than taking my original cover and just replacing the gasket. I guess I could even go the extra yard and install the B/A unit with gasket goo (which is a bit overboard), just to ensure a good seal. Comments?

No experience with Beck Arnley, sorry, and no experience with febi valve covers... However febi are OE on a few things for the e9x, and I have had nothing but good experiences with any of their parts I've fitted. If it were me, I'd go with febi as 'best of the rest'.

No real complaints about Febi here either. I have used their sway bar end links and clutch slave cylinders. I did notice that their slave cylinders seemed somewhat light compared to the OE unit. It worked flawlessly for years; it just felt kind of light when I handled it.

As for URO, I bought one of their fan blades for my old bimmer (before they went to e-fans) and it was significantly lighter (and cheap feeling).

I installed URO valve cover and gasket from rockauto about a year ago. No problem so far.
Does come with a 2-year warranty
