PS reservoir replacement necessary?

are there filters built inside our reservoirs? doing a PS flush soon and was thinking of replacing the unit and getting a new filter.

Certainly worth replacing the reservoir, I did mine at 80k and smashed the old reservoir open to check and there was a load of gunk inside the filter.

I did it on my old E46 and was an easy DIY. Pull the old fluid out, replace reservoir, hoses and clamps if necessary, refill fluid, turn wheel side to side and recheck level. The filter is in the bottom of the reservoir.

since you guys replaced the reservoir, did you notice any less noise when turning? when i slightly turn in the parking lot (slow speed) i can here a low pitch whine.

Haha, that was also one of the reasons why I wanted to do a proper flush and do thefilter same time (also was original and leaking at cap gasket so new res came with new one). Before I did the fluid change only with the turkey baster method.

At first I did notice that the noise was still there but now that you ask, I don't hear it as much perhaps now it's less noisy and that's why inside I don't notice it. It's been a few months now though so not sure.

No noise before or after. Feels smoother though, felt slightly rough before.
