Over a year ago I purchased the M-Performance Automatic Shift knob,

. "Have the car in drive, or in neutral, and pull up real hard". However, this aftermarket knob removal is no joke! I tried those methods, and pushing it down first. The stock knob came off, but this one will not budge. Anybody else experience this? If so, what was the solution? I cannot seem to find much on these.

I would call/email Turner to complain & ask for instructions (assuming you didn't use epoxy in the installation, or try to "UNscrew" it in disassembly ;-)

I have replaced most of my stock shift knobs, and some of them required a LOT of force to remove. For an e46 I had, I actually had to put a long 2x4 across the window sills and rig up a ratcheting strap around the bottom of the knob and use that to lever it off - it just wouldn't budge otherwise.

While more force is not always the answer, you know how the knob installed since you did it. If it just snapped in, then I imagine it should just snap out with enough force.

Just providing my $0.02 that the required force may be very high, based on my experience with stock knobs.

Thank you, and I've tried what Turner Motorsport suggested. "Regarding the shift knob. I have a coworker with the same know. He recommended putting the vehicle in neutral with the engine off. Then push the button and pull up." They then suggested the forums or YouTube.

jwalker87 , Thank you for your post. I just might have to find a way to add more force, be creative if you will. It does not have any other components that would keep it in place, so what you said makes sense.

Greyfox I would say somewhat decent amount of force to install.

I'll give "more force" a way to go, since it installed like the stock one.

Problem is you can find SOMEONE or SOME VIDEO that will tell you most anything. I have never tried to remove mine,
but attached is the ISTA Repair Procedure for removing the Knob/Grip. I says NOTHING about moving the lever out
of Park position (where photo shows it), OR pushing the release button.

If you notice the lower end of the shaft of Knob Assembly, the Release Button has to move or 'Detent' something.
If you are pushing that button, you MAY be preventing it from pulling out as it should. If you have your original
Knob Assembly, I would examine it closely to see WHAT changes at the bottom of the shaft when the
Release Button is pressed. Same for moving out of Park -- ISTA Procedure says NOTHING about that.

I would suggest putting the shifter in the Neutral when removing.

Pulling from Park position will cause you to hammer that shifter into your head unit and possibly break the plastic rod (as a member on here recently did exactly that).
