2.0 M47 Diesel - Injector Removal

Injector 2 on my 320d is about to give up according to INPA so needs replacing.

Just one quick question, after watching a few youtube tutorials on M47, M57 diesel injector removal are the injectors only held in by the M headed bolts?

I know with Ford diesels they recommend buying a special socket to put round the neck of the injectors yet on the tutorials, it doesn't seem the case on the BMW diesels?

If you're lucky you can remove injectors without too much effort. but in most cases you will need a slide hammer to fit the M14 connector. I used one from ebay:

remember to fish out the copper seal/washer

With the copper washer, I have seen some people just replace it by putting it down the port and then sticking the injector on top.

I have also seen people use a Febi lube / paste to make sure it sticks to the injector?

Whats the best way of fitting the copper washer to the injector before re-fitting the injector?

Well I've replaced injector 2 which was running at over ±5.

It took ages to get the car started but eventually, it turned over, checked INPA after coding the new injector and all the values look great now BUT......

All isn't well.

The car idles great. It drives fine until around 2200rpm and then there is a pretty bad missfire, RPM needle wobbles, it feels like the clutch is slipping but I only had it replaced 2 years ago.

Could it be air still in the system?

I'm thinking the replacement injector could be a duffer.

As the manifold had to come off, could it be something like the MAP or has the MAF wiring been disturbed?

Update - I found a swirl flap vac hose off so reconnect it. Tried running it without the MAF. It's in higher gears foot flat it's missing.

It was used, out of an X3.

At idle it was perfect. On INPA it looked great.

Under full load it was going off the scale on INPA.

Fair enough, makes sense. Maybe someone with more experience on injectors can chime in.

Brand new injectors are so expensive but i would have sourced a new one for sure
