What difference does it make now? I couldn't get it back, even if I wanted to.

Whether is is 1 screen or 2.. it is silly to have no option but the SAME map perspective on both sides (its not a stereo-opitigon) ! THAT can be changed with Software.

What they need to do, besides this, is to improve the graphics/resolution for the Map display, because it looks horrible. Bad colors and bad pixels.

The E65 7 series had/have full screen nav. But the 7 series hardware and software is different from the E60 and E90s.
However, I would love full screen nav. Also, I would love to see audio information in the secondary window. e.g. nav in the main, sirius radio tags on the right. That doesn't seem like too much to ask....

The one thing I would like to have is the ability to pick exactly what you want in the assist window. I don't like being limited.
My perfect setup would be to have the map on the main screen, and entertainment in the assist window. |

With all these great suggestions, I am wonder if anyone from BMW development team is reading this newsgroup(and others) and pass this information to other software developers in the iDrive group. Alternately, BMW should have a way for people to submit enhancements requests/bugs and have a tracking system on its web site with the status of these requests. It's ok for anyone to complain about the issues and lack of features with the nav, but the message needs to reach BMW development team.

BMW development team do not make the decisions!
What features are added or not is a function of marketing brief, designers taste and if developers manages to finish everything in time. So I think you're out of luck. I do think however BMW marketing would use the forum as one of their research sources to find user preference - but it would count a lot. At least the message in this thread is that there is not consensus on this topic :-) My own opinion is that the new C-series MB full navigation screen looks like a afterthought from a mounting perspective. The graphics looks much much better because of the high resolution LCD. It is not as user friendly to my liking.
