4wd, DSC, DSC

The details of what is and is not active in the different modes seems to be somewhat inconclusive, is there a final word on this some 10 years down the line from the last time it was talked about here?

Seems like:

Pre '08
DSC = full nanny, full stability, active e-diff
DTC = no nanny, no stability, active, e-diff
OFF = no nanny, no e-diff

Post '08
DSC = full nanny, full stability, active e-diff
DTC = no nanny, full/part stability, active e-diff
OFF = no nanny, no stability, active e-diff

In all conditions the T-case behaves the same way.

Sound about right?

Garage List
Post ‘08 includes ‘08. That’s how it is on my ‘08 335xi AT.

I think so? I thought DTC still retained some stability control even on pre-08, but I just looked at technical docs and it was inconclusive.

Worth noting is that later models allow the use of cruise control with DTC mode, whereas earlier models (e.g., my 2007) do not.

On my '06 I can confirm that in DTC it will still pull throttle. I didn't notice any stability corrections but the ABS is so proactive in these cars that I think the line gets a little blurry.

Mine is a 325 x-drive so it's not really possible to test the e-diff.
