Question WinKfp interfacing error K/DCAN

I'm running Winkpf and getting this interface error.

I'm using a quality k/dcan switchable cable in the same settings that allow me to interface with Ista-d successfully. I was under the impression that k/dcan is fine with E-series programming. Been using ista-d for years but trying my first go at programming/coding as I replaced my SZL. I'm not a computer expert. I tried to set everything up properly on this new standalone Windows 10 laptop, and have my own written procedure in front of me so the process can hopefully flow with no interruptions. But having this interfacing error. It would be really cool if someone would give me a pointer on being hung up here. I thought my Ediabas settings were correct. This is on my 535xi '08 build.

Does INPA fail too? I'm a beginner with BMW software, but in a few videos I've seen they start up INPA to verify the cable / car connection is OK (aka, 'look for the two black circles')
