MULF2 coding

Please see thread below for reference:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1462331

I swapped out my TCU for a MULF2 HI SVS and then proceeded to try and code it in using NCS. I'm not expert on this but have used it before to code in my alpine retrofit + folding mirrors successfully. Unfortunately this time I'm not having any luck.

Prior to swapping out my car had options S612 and S633 out of the factory.

S612 - BMW Assist
S633 - Preparation, mobile phone, Business

I removed these from the VO and added the below.

S6FL - USB/Audio interface
S644 - Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth

I then ran SG_CODIEREN job on my CAS, FRM and iDrive modules (CAPPL, CAUDI etc).

The result of all this is no success. Would be grateful for assistance from someone more experienced. Happy to paypal over a little thank you for anyone who can fix it.

Bluetooth is disabled in the car + Audio AUX is greyed out (I did connect the new usb/aux port).

I didn't want to lose bluetooth so I put the TCU back in and amended the VO again to what it was and I have some functionality back with bluetooth. I can receive calls on the car but can't make calls from communication in iDrive. It's not pulling any of my contacts or last dialed etc. I also noticed I'm not seeing my phone or signal bars at the bottom of the iDrive screen even though it is connected.

check if your mulf2 is non-dead
connect only 54-pin harness but not MOST connector and check if MULF2 emit red light

Just MULF. Had to slightly modify the main 54 pin connector for the TCU to fit the MULF unit. Pinned in the new aux to 23,22,5,4. Connected the Bluetooth antenna and usb at the other end.

Yeah man I thought that too. I do see a red light so thankfully not dead.

When I edited my VO and saw 2MULF pop up in my modules in NCS I wasn’t able to run the SG_CODIEREN job on it without error but I read on another bmw forum that this error is normal and to immediately run a SG_RESET job after the error which should work?

Ok with much help from ptpending I realised the mulf2 was faulty so I returned it and got another one which was fine.

Currently I've got two issues:

1. USB/AUX port greyed out (pretty sure its the wiring so will take a look at this)

2. When making/receiving bluetooth calls the volume isn't as loud as when I used my TCU and the person I'm talking to mentions they can't hear me as clear as before.

Do I need to do any further coding for bluetooth volume or in car mic? The bluetooth antenna is plugged in to the mulf2 fine.

UPDATE:

Got the USB/AUX port working. Got the bluetooth call volume up too. There is coding parameter in CAPPL i think where it was set to standard and I changed it to mulf and the volume increased.

Started to test calls and voice recognition and I'm not sure the car is using my microphone inside the roof dash FZD at the moment as people can't hear me clearly and also voice recognition in the car can't understand me.

All SVS and MIC related coding is currently set to below. What do I need to change? I'm pretty sure SVS_EIN_AUS is to do with voice commands but there are 3 of them so I'm not sure.

Update:

Did two Bluetooth test calls. The first time I sat in drivers seat and called my cousin and left him a voicemail. The second time I got out the car and stood behind it and left him a voicemail. As he has an iPhone with visual voicemail he sent me both voicemail audio files.

1. When in the car the sound is quiet and muffled.

2. Outside the car there is no sound in the voicemail.

So this tells me it’s using the in car mic but not at full functionality.

Got the mic working properly over Bluetooth calls. Other side can hear me very clearly now.

I did this by putting ncsexpert on expert profile and just coding my iDrive and mulf modules back to VO default.

Only one thing left to fix and that’s voice commands. When I press the button on the steering wheel she speaks in English but whatever I say she doesn’t hear me. So what do I need to look at?

Surely it's a coding issue? I read on below thread about rewiring mic in glovebox

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660738

However not sure why I would need to do this as I came from a TCU fitted with mic pins going to 1,19,21 and never had an issue with voice control. All I've done is modified the 54 pin connector so it can be plugged in to the mulf2.
