Random Orbital Buffer

Is a random orbital buffer safe for a newbie? I want to polish and wax my car and I have never used a buffer before. Can I damage the paint with a buffer if i don't know what i'm doing?

after detailing by hand i moved to a orbital last month and it really is very safe. just watch the youTube how-to videos and use common sense. you will not have a problem and wonder why you didn't make the switch earlier.

If I don't polish can I use it for the wax? Is it used for both to apply and remove the wax? Or just remove?

you can use it to apply wax too at a slow speed and a soft pad

It's really a waste of money to get a PC just for wax or sealant. Application doesn't really go any faster and you'll go through dozens of bonnets for removal.

Now, you sound like my mom

As far as Flex 3401 goes, I never polish a car ever before and I did fine with it. Still re-learning things of-course

This might convince you to buy Flex3401 (my X5 is almost 7 year old):
