limp mode in e92 (no oil cooler)

its the second time the car has gone into the limp mode in 3 months now...(its my sister's e92)
the funny thing is that it always happened at night when it was cool out, (74 degrees fahrenheit) and the oil temps were around 210~220.
so i went to the dealer, guess what they say, "hitting potholes at times may cause the car to go into the limp mode".
wat?
