I had this problem on my 335i and they rattled pretty bad, I took it to the dealer and basically was told I had to get new waste gates for the turbos.
This isn't covered under CPO warranty so if you under CPO, go to a regular shop and have them replace the waste gates on it, it will be a lot cheaper then the dealer (do some back ground checks on the shop you look into for the job!), but noise issues are covered under Factory Warranty so if you have that or your car is below 50k miles, then they cover 100% of it*

I had just gotten my car 3 months when I took it in for this and CPO didn't cover it, but I complained to BMW USA and they brought down the price from $2400 to 600+tax for the new Waste Gates.

Makes you wonder how much they steal from their customers on a daily basis, at 600 am sure they where still making a profit.

are you sure it's the wastegate? how have you confirmed this?

that isnt the wastegates. thats direct injection and valvetronic. your car is fine. the wastegate rattle is when the rpms descend and it sounds like coins rattling in a jar.

hi,

my car has a coin/electric sound when slight acceleration. Like 800rpm i hear the coin/click/electric soun is it normal i will take my bmw in on 1 june for the 100 time. but it dont really know if it a problem i dont hear it at idle only when accelerating at 800 rpms above 1000rpm it goes away. i do hope there is no problem with it.

It could be wastegate or exhaust flap rattle but either way, it's completely normal.

My hpfp went out two weeks ago. Probably getting rid of the car at the end of the year.

My 2013 f30 335i (pneumatic waste-gate) has started to make this "ticking" or "rattling" noise upon startup. It also has started making a "metallic rattling" or "metallic vibrating" noise when accelerating from a stop.

I've attached videos where you can hear the rattling upon startup and another one where you can CLEARLY hear the metallic vibration at 2k-3k rpm's when accelerating.

PLEASE ADVISE if you have any ideas of what this might be.

This isn't wastegate rattle, Check ur oil filter for metal. Might be a rod bearing spinning, hopefully not
