I mistakenly used the M1 5W30 15,000mi/synthetic. Is that a problem?

Unfortunately I read the "do not use Mobile1 5w30" blog 2000 miles after my oil change. I done my 1st oil change at 8000mi. I now have 10,800mi and am already 1qt low. That didn't seem right so I did the research and learned that folks are saying not to use the U.S. brand Mobile1 5w30 or Castrol 5w30. Well I don't have the M1 0w40 in my engine. Over the phone, the dealer told me only to use Mobile1 or Castrol 5w30 Extended Performance 15,000miles Fully Synthetic Oil. I used 6.9 Qts of Mobile1. I realize now that Mobile1 5w30 is not LL-01 rated. I do kinda sorta drive fast and furious...until now since I don't want to blow my engine. What now??? Do I just drive slower until it's time for my 15,000 regular scheduled oil change? Or do I NEED to redo my oil change? The Mobile1 5w30 is still fully synthethic and extended performance. It's just not the proper LL-01 or LL-04. Help. Thanks guys!

v/r,
Chris

Look on the back of the oil bottle. If you managed to find Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP it should be BMW LL04. This should be OK, it is the normal Mobil 1 5W-30 as sold in the United States that has no BMW approvals. However Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP is pretty rare. Although there are rumors of problems with LL04 and American crap gasoline.

If you have the "normal" American version of Mobil 1 5W-30 I would drop it and change it just to protect your warranty. Go to the dealer and buy 7 qts of the BMW oil and save the receipt.

But in the real world it is hard to believe that even Wallmart's Mobil 1 5W-30 would have any problems on a 7k oil change.

It wont blow your engine, it will work fine, I just wouldnt leave it in for a long time.

The LL in the BMW spec stands for Long Life. That oil does not have the properties that BMW requires for its 15k oil interval.

But if you change it at 5-7500k you will be fine and not hurt the engine.

If you want to be on the safe side and change it now you can, but its kind of a waste of money. I would change it around 5k.
