Why pay $150+ for an alignment? Take it to an alignment specialist shop.

Most likely, the dealer will NOT update. They usually do not update unless it is a mandatory update or if there is something wrong that you have reported and a software upgrade will fix it.

try the auto-x locals. here in atlanta we have gran turismo east who setup/work on the panoz cars. only place in town (other than dealer) that could setup the '02 audi a4 which has a very complex suspension (5 control arms++) i'm not sure if bmw has a complex suspension these days the old e46 was old skool.

If you're car is on a Recall list to update you're car they will, check with you're SA and tell them NOT to update it...That's what i did and it worked.

I just took my car in to a local BMW shop for an alignment last week, no update was performed and I picked my car up an hour later. Oh and it didn't run me $150+, it was about ~$110 after taxes.

Tell them that you dont want the software updated... period. They are not allowed to do non-authorized work to your car.

What reason would you give them as to why you do not want the update?

tell them you don't want it due to the turbo lag problem. My SA knows about the complaints, yours probably have heard of it too, just tell him not to. SA are usually pretty cool, BMW ones are if you can find them.

If I told them not to do any updates would they have to follow my wishes or could they do the update anyway if they wanted?
